A Big Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Hall

All of us at Kinetic Self Defence would like to congratulate Miss. Kathrine Jones and Mr. Kevin Hall on tieing the knot on the 20th February 2009. We wish you the very best for the future.

KSD Syllabus Development

and Refinements

Martial Arts and Self Defence training like any other set of skills you attempt to master, do not have to be static. At KSD we are convinced that the way to proficiency in personal self-defense is to never stop training, never stop learning, and never stop looking for better and more practical and productive ways of doing things.

With this in mind, our core self-defense system, using biomechanical motions to generate maximum power will remain the same with only a few minor tweaks.

Changes to the current syllabus will include amongst other the addition of spinning hand techniques; various elbow strikes, new kicking techniques, the introduction of individual combinations in place of patterns and a fitness requirement for each belt level.

The close range and ground escape syllabi will have a 'technique of the month' philosophy in order for students to be become more proficent and confident in one particular escape and also to learn a variety of different escapes for one attack.

The changes represent our committment to providing our students with the best self defence instruction available!

Grading Feb 2009

Well done to all those that participated in last Sunday's grading event. All Instructors and Examiners were very impressed with the standard and effort put in by all students.

A big congratulations to KSD's newest Instructors Mr. Ross Dennison who has been promoted from Team Leader to Assistant Instructor and Mrs. Caroline Prosser who has been promoted to the rank of Instructor. Their promotion is the start of a new journey for both of them, a journey in which i'm sure they'll give as much dedication and effort as they've given their own personal training. Well done to both and good luck in your trainee roles.

All KSD Chief Instructors would like to thank all the students, parents, AIs and examiners for making it an enjoyable and smooth event.

A special thank you to Tia's parents for the smooth running of the refreshments lounge.

So you know Ju-Jitsu?

Kinetic Self Defence would like to thank Mr. Jeff Evans of Combat Ju-Jitsu Wales for his enthused training session at the Canton location on Saturday 2nd Feb.

Today's events saw the continued training and development of ground escape, wrist grabs, as well as a focus on breakfalls and rolling.

A big thank you to all the Team Leaders, AIs and CIs that attended the session. I know you all enjoyed it! Even if you are in pain the for the next few days. : )

Happy New Year!

The KSD Instructor team would like to wish all students, instructors, friends and visitors a fantastic 2009! We promise our students an action packed year just like the last with many upcoming events including charity football, extra curricular training for Team Leaders and AI's, cookouts and cinema trips and not to forget the positive changes to the curriculum that will be introduced this year.

Students should now be preparing for the upcoming grading on the 15th February 2009.
