Team Leader Program

The selection of team leaders is the result of discussions between instructors, narrowing the choice down to a select few.  The acceptance of the position is a big responsibility and should not be taken lightly.

We are quite dependant on our leader team to help us maintain our “Tradition of Excellence”.  Our goal remains to provide the very best training for our students.  This requires a motivated & talented leader’s team.

As part of the tradition & heritage of martial arts, students have always assisted the instructor to maintain the integrity of the school.

Team Leaders must show pride for their school and the desire to help others enjoy the benefits and excitement we offer.  For this to happen, team leaders must be very open minded & teachable.  Teaching students our way requires very special qualities.

Team Leaders will be trained in the art of communication.  Much more than the technical skill of your side kick, your skill as a successful communicator & motivator will determine your success as a future teacher.

Team Leader Responsibilities

Team leaders must accept the fully the following responsibilities in order to maintain their status.  Failure to perform in these areas must result in the stepping down of a team leader member in order to allow another student a chance.

1) Team leaders must assist (initially) teaching at least one hour per week, (rising to two hours per week after a period set by the instructor).

2) Must attend team leader classes and workshops.

3) To get to class 10-15 minutes early to help set up for the lesson.

4) Help line students line up at the beginning, during and at the end of the class.

5) To take part in introductory lessons and demonstrate techniques when called upon.

6) To know basic Korean terminology.

7) To help students as they practice their techniques.

Our Commitment to YOU!

The very best tool for learning about yourself AND your martial arts is to teach.  We will provide team leaders with the guidance to develop their martial arts skills and the opportunity to apply that knowledge consistently.  As well you know, our instructors are some of the best teachers many of us have encountered.  The teaching system that we have developed works and works well.

What's a Team Leaders Real Contribution?

Team Leader's high profile role is as an instructor-in-training. However, often the more critical but less measurable and certainly lower profile role is as a mentor/liaison for students. Often students are more at ease talking to a team leader than to a high ranking Black Belt. We teach Team Leaders to cultivate that rapport into relationships of trust and care.

People do not get praised in enough in our world.

Here is a chance for Team Leaders to really make a difference in someone’s life. By helping them to feel more comfortable at this school, we, as a team, have a much better chance of getting them to believe in their potential. If we can get that belief we can get the person to achieve Black Belt!

It has worked for us with some of our current Team Leaders, therefore it will work with others!
